Oftentimes, it’s during a crisis that the foundations for future success are laid. As we sit in the middle of the current coronavirus pandemic, a return to normality seems a long way away. Everyone is talking about having to adapt to a “new normal”. But doing the groundwork now can give businesses a competitive advantage. Now is the time to check in with customers and their needs, adjust processes accordingly, drive digitalization forward and make the necessary investments. Even now, no one can afford to stand still.
Some of our customers have recognized this. Despite the pandemic, they are working with us to continue optimizing their processes with Picavi smart glasses. This is possible thanks to a clever innovation: remote installation. Given the high risk of infection in the pandemic, this procedure is proving to be a worthwhile investment, as it does not require our experts to be on site.
Taking care of setup
Our Picavi experts set up the smart glasses from start to finish, preparing the hardware to make it quick and easy to install on site. This involves setting up the customized customer software and the interface to the on-site warehouse management or ERP system. The full hardware is delivered ready for use.
Plug-and-play on site
As a result, the on-site process can be completed quickly, with installation requirements kept to a minimum. The glasses are connected to the respective facility using the Business Intelligence Software Picavi Cockpit, which features integrated Mobile Device Management (MDM). The MDM has a location go-live function that connects the smart glasses with the on-site WLAN network and Picavi Cockpit. After some brief training, the pickers can then start working with the intuitive and user-friendly system.
Case study: Global remote roll-out for Neovia Logistics
Neovia Logistics is a leading and globally active logistics specialist that has been using Picavi smart glasses since 2019. The company recently purchased a global site license for pick-by-vision to build on its competitive advantage. The hands-free tech is now at the core of its order picking processes.
The major productivity increases enabled by pick-by-vision technology have convinced Neovia to switch more logistics processes at its international sites to Picavi during the coronavirus pandemic. It now uses over 180 pairs of smart glasses at various locations in the USA and Europe.
In the current roll-out, Neovia is benefiting from Picavi’s remote installation service, with the hardware delivered to the logistics centers ready to use. Thanks to the plug-and-play system, staff at the international sites have been able to boost productivity fast.
